2015 Perodua Myvi launched, from RM41,500 [+photos]

Perodua has just launched the new Myvi facelift, which now comes with more features and boasts better value for its customers. Since its inception 10 years ago, the Perodua Myvi has been the best selling selling car locally.

Also new to the Myvi is the variants. Perodua has revamped their variant naming to follow the Axia. Now, the lowest end Myvi is the Standard G followed by the upper market Premium X. These two variants are only 1.3-litre models. The 1.5-litre models are the SE and Advance. All variants now sport alloy wheels, with the SE and Advance sporting a different design.

From the outside, the new Myvi now sports a more aggressive front end, with new headlight and bumper design across the range. The Standard G and Premium X now sports regular halogen headlights, unlike their predecessors’ projector headlights. The SE and Advance models now features a newly designed pair of projector headlights with LED guide lights. The SE and Advance models also features a new rear spoiler design, new rear bumper design and also a pair of clear-type LED rear lights.

Moving onto the interior, the changes are not too drastic, but nonetheless Perodua has included some changes. Thanks to the feedback they received from the Axia, all Myvi variants now feature the anti-snatch hook. Also standard across the range is the built-in tissue compartment and a new multi-purpose compartment to store your Smart Tag. Also new is the new multi-info display which displays the service info.

For convenience sake, the Premium X, SE and Advance models now sport front corner sensors, and this time, they can be turned on or off when needed. “This feature will assist drivers when making tricky corners when parking. In addition, this feature can be deactivated when driving or during traffic jams as not to cause unnecessary discomfort to the driver,” Aminar said.

The top-of-the-line Myvi Advance has all the bells and whistles, including semi bucket leather seats, a leather wrapped gear shifter, touchscreen LCD display which integrates the GPS system, multimedia system and Bluetooth hands-free function. Besides that, the Advance model now has a reverse camera.

Safety wise, the new Myvi now boasts a 4 star ASEAN NCAP rating, thanks to an enhanced vehicle structure to better withstand frontal impacts. Also standard across the range is the two front airbags for the driver and front passenger. ABS, EBD and BA are standard for the Premium X, SE and Advance variants, while all variants will get an ISOFIX child restraint system and a rear 3-point seat belt.

“To add a little flavour to the New Myvi, we are featuring 2 new metallic colours, which are Electric Blue (SE and Advanced variants) and Cosmic Gold (Standard G and Premium X variants) alongside favourite colours of Ozzy Orange, Mystical Purple, Glittering Silver and Ivory White (Solid),” he added.

The new Myvi has a starting price of RM41,500 for the Standard G in manual, while the Premium X model has a pricetag of RM47,500. The Myvi SE now retails at RM50,500 while the highest specification Advance model retails at RM58,900. All Myvi variants are backed with a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty.
