Looks like we’re not the only ones who have roads and bridges collapsing around us. The Scorciavacche viaduct, built at a cost of €13 million, which connects Palermo and Agrigento, collapsed after opening for just 10 days. Fortunately no cars were on the bridge at that time.
The Scorciavacche viaduct was completed 3 months ahead of schedule, and the bridge collapsed causing 4 people to suffer minor injuries. Transport Minister Maurizio Lupi said, “Somebody gave the green light but the work was not done properly” and it was “unheard of and unacceptable”. Prime Minister Matteo Renzi added, “I demand that Anas name the person responsible. It will pay for everything.”
Roughly 6 months ago, a bridge in southern Agrigento collapsed, with cars on it. Another 4 people suffered injuries from that accident.
