Subaru, alongside their tuning arm STI, has unveiled a new racer for 2015, developed from the Subaru WRX STI. They will be participating in the 24 Hours Nürburgring in 2015, which is held from 14 till 17 May 2015. STI has been participating in the prestigious endurance races since the last 8 years. This time around, STI will join in with their latest Subaru WRX STI-based racer, which sports improved stability, aerodynamics, engine output and body rigidity over its predecessor. Hideharu Tatsumi will be the team manager like last year. The new driver, Tim Schrick from Germany, winner of 2014 VLN endurance racing championship joins the team alongside Sasaki from Japan, Lasée from Germany and van Dam from the Netherlands.
Apart from the 24 Hours Nürburgring, Subaru will also be competing in the SUPER GT series. For the SUPER GT series, Subaru will be fielding their Subaru BRZ GT300 racer, which you’ve guessed right, is based on the Subaru BRZ. The BRZ GT300 features the same front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout like the production model. Hideharu Tatsumi will be heading the team for this year, while R&D SPORT will be headed by Director Shinji Motojima. The drivers for Subaru will be Takuto Iguchi and Hideki Yamauchi, who has just joined the team this year. Like the 24 Hours Nürburgring, Dunlop will also be Subaru’s tyre supplier for the SUPER GT series.
