Codenamed G11, the new BMW 7-Series has been spotted without disguise. This particular spied variant is the diesel 730d which sits on a regular wheelbase.
Taking cues from the BMW Vision Future Luxury concept shown at the Beijing Motor Show earlier this year, with the overall design of the G11 now looking even sharper than its F01 predecessor. The laserlight headlights shown here will likely end up as a cost-option, however. Despite that, the design up front is noticeably more aggressive than the F01 it replaces. The rear end too, has been refreshed to give the new G11 a more sharper outlook.
Moving onto the interior, the new standalone infotainment system and iDrive controller looks similar to its predecessor. Also new on the G11’s interior are the touch-sensitive controls for the air-conditioning system.
The new G11 is some 200 kg lighter than its predecessor, and will be amongst the first few BMW models to employ the use of their new “35up” scalable rear-wheel-drive platform. It will feature several new engines, including a new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel and petrol engines. A plug-in hybrid variant is also in the pipeline.
