Porsche’s much-touted 911 GT3 is quite a car, but only Porsche’s own PDK dual clutch gearbox. No manual transmission for the purists, unfortunately. But despite that, Porsche offers (as standard) the PDK Sport mode, which is essentially a button that sharpens throttle response and increases the gear shift points. Bad news for one particular Porsche 911 GT3 owner however, as his brand-new GT3 did not come with the PDK Sport button.
The said owner collected the car from the dealer in early December, and discovered the missing button on the 14th. After posting the picture on the Rennlist forum, members were quick to react, with many of them getting flabbergasted as how Porsche managed to forget the said button. As of December 24, the dealer has made arrangements to order the correct console with the PDK Sport button. Curiously, the wiring was done correctly. The dealer will also reprogram the gearbox mapping for the owner to fully utilize his GT3.
A missing button isn’t the only problem the Porsche 911 GT3 has, as earlier this year, Porsche had to halt sales of the GT3 to rectify a loose bolt in the piston connecting rod which caused many early batch GT3s to be engulfed in flames.
