After succumbing into defeat in 2013, Proton obtained the perfect result in this year’s Sepang 1000 km endurance race when the team scored a 1-2 finish. The No.12 Proton Preve driven by Tengku Djan Ley & Syafiq Ali took the chequered flag after 181 laps and the No.11 Proton Suprima S driven by James Veerapen & Djan’s brother, Tengku Ezan Ley, finished in a close 2nd.
Both cars dominated from start to finish with no team orders given to the two entries. The Preve crossed the finish line after 8 hours and 17 minutes and 181 laps to mark the 1000 km finish, followed by its hatchback sibling which was 0.42 seconds behind the lead car.
Last year’s winner, Honda Malaysia Racing Team meanwhile settled for 3rd and 4th with their brand new Honda Jazz and Honda City race cars.
