Over the weekend, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo world final was held at the Sepang International Circuit. We got there early, and started snapping away.
On the track, the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo was furiously lapping the track, and returning to the pits for a quick check and refuel.
After that, all the Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo racers got out of their pits, and proceeded to line up at the grid. The race was scheduled to start in 10 minutes.
On the grid, we spotted Stephan Winkelmann at the front of the grid, giving an interview.
Back in the hospitality suite, Stephan Winkelmann also took the opportunity to welcome all the racers to Malaysia for the final leg of the 2014 Lamborghini Super Trofeo.
Giorgo Sanna, Motorsport Coordinator of Lamborghini was keen to share information about their new Huracan Super Trofeo racer, which effectively replaces the ageing Gallardo Super Trofeo.
Interestingly enough, it was mentioned that for next year’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo, the Malaysia leg will run on the street of Kuala Lumpur, around the Petronas Twin Towers. Stay tuned for that next year!
But the crown jewel of the whole event has to be the Lamborghini Veneno. This particular unit is Car Zero, and it belongs to Lamborghini. It was quite a pity that we did not get to go any closer to properly enjoy the car.
If you’re not a fan of the modern crop of the Raging Bulls, we spotted just the car for you as well.
The poster car of young boys back in the 70s, the Lamborghini Countach LP500S.
For Edoardo Piscopo and Milos Pavlovic of Bonaldi Motorsport, it was a good weekend for them, having winning the PRO Class World Final title after winning the PRO Class European Crown on Friday. They won Race 1 in the morning, and took second position behind team-mate Marko Bortolotti, who impressively climbed from 13th position to first position. Milos Pavlovic said, “I would like to have a team-mate like Piscopo for all my career. This was an amazing season. Would like to thank of course Bonaldi Motorsport. Winning both title at the very last lap of Race 2 was something I would remember.”
The CEO and President of Lamborghini Automobili Stephan Winkelmann awarded the Trofeo Mamè to all three Class winners. They also received a Blancpain self-winding L-Evolution Chronographe Flyback “Super Trofeo”, Caliber F185.
