BIMMERFEST 2013 – Bringing the BMW Community Together

Bimmerfest

BMW Club Malaysia (“BMWCM”), the official BMW car club of Malaysia held a festival called Bimmerfest 2013 with the tag line “Bringing the BMW Community Together”. This event was held at the open area in Precinct 2, in front of the Ministry of Finance, Putrajaya on Saturday, 9th 10.00 am – 5.00pm. The aim was definitely bold and it took the committee countless of hours to gather a group of volunteers to help organize this event.

The event started off with a gathering of BMW car owners at the Malaysian Agricultural Exhibition Park Serdang (MAEPS). Then the group followed a huge convoy over to Presint 2 which caused a massive traffic jam in the quiet administrative town of Putrajaya. Amidst the chaos of having so many cars manoeuvring through blocked roads at Putrajaya, the cars eventually arrived and gathered in front of the Ministry of Finance at Putrajaya. Even with RELA’s help, it wasn’t easy as the participants were enthusiastic and wanted to show off their rides to the growing crowd.

Special promotions and discounts were given to people who bought items there today at the various booths participating in the event. Participants were treated to goody bags as well as lucky draw prizes at the various booths.

Bimmerfest 2013, like similar events held around the world annually, was a gathering of all BMW car enthusiasts. Owners and fans of the brand were expected to attend Bimmerfest 2013 from all of Malaysia including our neighbours Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. The committee expected an attendance in access of 500 cars and hope to make this gathering recorded into the “Malaysia Book of Records” for the single largest BMW car gathering in a single location. Although more than 600 BMW cars registered for the event, unfortunately the final count for the number of BMW cars gathered today was at 432, which were still a huge achievement and definitely not an easy feat to achieve.

To most enthusiast, it wasn’t just about gathering at a location but to meet new friends who share the same passion for BMW cars and bikes alike. There is something to stirs up within a car enthusiast when they see a plethora of various BMW models, some unique and some so crazy that makes them wake up early on a Saturday morning to gather together. To others it may just be considered a huge parking lot but to the true enthusiast, it may be their Disneyland.

There were also orphans that were charted by the BMW Club Malaysia to attend the event as well. Several competitions and games were held throughout the day including best concourse cars, most elaborate modification to a BMW, mini gymkhana and booths selling related BMW merchandises, just to name a few.

The president of the BMW Club Malaysia, Datuk Dzulkarnain Amir had this to say,

“Gathering a large number of cars, especially BMWs is indeed an uphill task and there is no other place better to start off with, but Putrajaya itself. Putrajaya is a wvery well planned city, with beautiful landscape and building structure, which is one of the reason why we chose to have this event here. We are being watched as I speak and with easy access to electronic media, this event in Putrajaya will definitely add value to its already global recognition”.
