Stats: Bugatti owners have 84 cars, 3 jets and a yacht. Wait, what??

Although Bentley and Bugatti both produce ultra luxury vehicles, the difference between the customers who purchase these cars is rather astonishing.

According to Wolfgang Duerheimer, Bentley CEO and Bugatti president, “The clientele between Bentley and Bugatti is remarkably different. The Bentley customer on average owns 8 cars. The average Bugatti customer has about 84 cars, 3 jets and one yacht.” No, we are not making this up.

Although the gap between a mere 8 cars and 84 cars, 3 jets, and 1 yacht is quite a lot of money, this disparity doesn’t necessarily mean that Buggati owners are 10 times richer than Bentley owners. Rather, it says something about why people buy these cars.

Bentley is one of world’s most sought after brands. However, its cars can serve as  a daily-driver as well (in the elite world at least) In other words, as over-the-top luxurious and powerful as they are, Bentleys have a “utilitarian” aspect.

Bugattis, on the other hand, serve no such purpose or mission besides being the fastest luxury car in the world. Not a useful mission — nor a legal one in 99.9% percent of the world. Thus, the Bugatti Veyron is a purchase made purely out of a need to stroke one’s ego. Well, rapper Flo-Rida owns three Veyrons, does this mean he has TWO too many egos?
