A pedestrian bridge collapsed onto the Southfield Freeway in Detroit and reports say that this incident has killed a truck driver. Reports say that the truck driver who was killed drove the truck into the bridge causing it to collapse.
According to a tweet by the Michigan Dept. of Transportation, the cause of the collapse is not due to structural issue as shown below.

This reminded me of the incident which happened locally here at Cyberjaya where a flyover collapsed as well. At the time, the flyover was not yet opened to cars and I distinctly remember the road under the flyover had issues with the soil where it kept sinking. As usual our authorities would just simply fill up the hole and resurface the road but it got to a state that the entire flyover collapsed.
This happened in 2013 and since then, I still drive by this spot on a daily basis and the area hasn’t been cleared forcing traffic to route around the collapsed flyover causing unnecessary traffic congestion there in the mornings and in the evenings.
