Based on the Outlander SUV model, the Concept-S set to be unveiled at the Paris Motorshow next month, is “a sportier and more sophisticated visual expression of MMC’s PHEV technology”. While sharing the same wheelbase with the Outlander at 2670mm, the Concept-S differs than the standard Outlander dimensions wise, with the Concept-S measuring 4760mm long x 1842mm wide, with a height of 1700mm.
Also, the Concept-S sports more chrome and futuristic elements compared to the standard Outlander. Interior wise, a combination of black wood and leather, with silver accents and new ribbed seat cushions were spotted in the Concept-S. Those aesthetics alone could preview a possible facelift for the Outlander SUV model.
The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) moniker identifies this SUV as an electric car, with the Outlander PHEV offered in Japan and Europe. The Concept-S meanwhile shares the similar combination powertrain of four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors just like the standard Outlander PHEV. The car with the batteries alone can go around 40km.
We hope this is not the only Mitsubishi car to be unveiled in Paris, as the aging and popular Lancer saloon car needs urgent replacement too.
