You’ve seen it undergoing testing at the Bonneville Salt Flats in camouflage, so here’s the final reveal of the highly anticipated Mercedes-AMG GT.
The new GT is the second sports car developed fully independently by Mercedes-AMG. As with all AMG models, the AMG GT is being made in Affalterbach according to the “one man, one engine” principle. In the AMG engine shop, highly qualified fitters assemble the engines by hand according to the strictest quality standards – visible on the AMG engine plate with the engine technician’s signature.
Available in either standard GT and a more powerful GT S, the entry-level AMG GT features a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces 462PS and 600Nm of torque. It is connected to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 304 km/h.
Meanwhile, the AMG GT S rewards buyers with a more powerful twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine that develops 510PS and 650 Nm of torque. Thanks to the extra oomph, the model can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds before topping out at an electronically-limited 310 km/h.
