VW Polo range wins ASEAN NCAP best child occupant protection award

The Volkswagen Polo range has been named the winner of the Best Child Occupant Protection (COP) award in the Small Family Car category at the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards 2014 recently.

According to the automaker, after vigorous testing, the Volkswagen Polo range consisting of both the locally-assembled Polo Sedan and Polo 1.6 have scored a total of 85% and 4 stars in this globally-recognised safety standard, getting the top marks in its category for child occupant protection. Apart from that, both cars also received one of the highest marks for Adult Occupant Protection, with a score of 14.51/16.00 and 4 stars in the Small Family Car category.

In Malaysia, all variants of the locally-assembled Polo Sedan and Polo 1.6 are equipped with a series of leading safety features including dual front airbags, Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS), standard 3-point safety belts for rear outboard occupants, child seat anchor (ISOFIX system), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA), Park Distance Control (PDC) and electronic vehicle immobilization device and anti-pinch power windows in all four doors.
