Maruti Suzuki has released images of the production-ready Ciaz for the India market which will go on sale next month. It was first unveiled at the Auto Shanghai last year as the Suzuki Authentics Concept which previewed a C-segment sedan. This new mid-size sedan that replaces the Suzuki SX4 is expected to compete with the Honda City when it’s launched in mid-October.
Making the transition to a production version, the Ciaz is 4490mm long, 1730mm wide and 1485mm tall, with a 2650mm wheelbase so its dimensions are quite generous for this segment.
It sits on multi-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels and has a 510-litre boot space while weight stands at 1,010 kg for the petrol model and 1,105 kg for the diesel model. Speaking of engines, there’s a 4-cylinder 1.4-litre with 91 bhp and 130 Nm along with a Fiat MultiJet 4-cylinder 1.3-litre diesel rated at 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. The company claims that Ciaz diesel has a fuel efficiency of 26.21 km/l while petrol delivers a mileage of 20.73 km/l.
The 2014 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be offered with an extensive equipment list including automatic climate control, keyless start, rear AC vents, six speakers, touchscreen with navigation, as well as a rear power socket and electric trunk release. Other goodies include reversing camera + parking sensors, leather upholstery, auto-dimming rear view mirror, projector headlamps and support for USB/AUX/Bluetooth.
