The first generation Suzuki Vitara made an impact as an affordable small SUVs in Malaysia prior the introduction of the Perodua Kembara. Sadly, the subsequent generations of the Vitara didn’t fare well. Now, Suzuki is set to reveal the fourth generation Vitara as a compact crossover at the Paris Motorshow in October.
Based on the iV-4 concept, the new Vitara is set to fill the shoes of SX4 crossover as the SX4 has moved up a class in size to fight the Nissan Qashqai. This means the Vitara is effectively fighting against crossovers such as the Nissan Juke, Ford Ecosport and Peugeot 2008.
The new Vitara will be be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel powerplant shared with the new SX4. The crossover will also be offered with the company’s “ALLGRIP intelligent” all-wheel drive in some variants.
With the new Vitara set to make its worldwide debut in October, expect the introduction of the new Vitara in Malaysia somewhere around 2015-2016.
