Volkswagen recently announced that the 2015 e-Golf electric vehicle will be priced from $35,445 (RM112, 130) in the United States.
Set to go on sale at selected dealerships in November, the e-Golf will cost significantly more than the Nissan Leaf which is now priced at $28,980 (RM91,678) in the US.
For an additional $6,465 (RM20,452) the e-Golf comes nicely equipped with LED headlights and unique 16-inch aluminium wheels. The model also boasts a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. Other niceties include Bluetooth connectivity, a rear-view camera and a 5.8-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation.
The e-Golf is built on the Golf’s Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform, and powered by a compact electric motor and lithium-ion battery which feeds an electric motor that develops 115 bhp and 270 Nm of torque. In comparison, the Nissan Leaf produces 107 hp and 253Nm of torque.
Although the e-Golf is not available in our local market, would you opt for the Volkswagen e-Golf instead of the Nissan Leaf?
