This year’s Formula One session will see the inaugural Russian Grand Prix to be held at the brand new Sochi Autodrom circuit. Despite struggling in many races so far, quadruple F1 champion, Sebastian Vettel, will have an upper edge when he became the first F1 driver to drive at Sochi.

Vettel, who is Infiniti’s brand ambassador, drove a lap in the Infiniti Q50 Hybrid car around the 5.853km street circuit. The German also thinks the track will be a huge challenge in F1 cars, with a mix of corners coupled with the close walls on the circuit will really push drivers to their limits.

“I think it is a very interesting track. I was here roughly a year ago when it was in the middle of construction and now it is finished. It is great to see the stadiums around and I think the circuit is very technical and it also seems very quick,” said Vettel.

“I haven’t driven this track in the simulator yet. But I think it is good to get some real experience here about how the track feels, how the kerbs are, how quick the corners feel and so on. That is definitely something I can then take into the simulator and let the guys know how close they got to it. It is obviously the first time we are coming here. We only have some numbers we haven’t got any data yet.”

Who knows, maybe Vettel can finally beat his unstoppable teammate, Daniel Ricciardo in the Russian Grand Prix on 12 October. Have a taste of this new track by clicking at the video below!
