Just a couple of weeks after BMW Group Malaysia announced the introduction of locally assembled BMW X5, the company today revealed that the X3 will also join the company’s line-up of locally-assembled vehicles in Malaysia.
Available in two engine choices, the BMW X3 xDrive20d is equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which delivers an output of 190hp with torque peaking at 400Nm. The car boasts a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 8.1 seconds and records an impressive low fuel consumption of just 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres as well as exceptional CO2 emission of 138 grams per kilometre.
The new BMW X3 xDrive20i on the other hand, is fitted with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which delivers a maximum output of 184hp, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds. This new petrol variant records a fuel consumption of 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 168 grams per kilometre.
For exceptionally lower fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions, the new BMW X3 also features an ECO PRO mode with a ‘coasting’ function which allows the car to cruise down the highway without having to press on the accelerator pedal by uncoupling the engine from the drivetrain at speeds between 50 to 160 km/h. In addition to the ECO PRO modes’ Route-Ahead Assistant, the new BMW X3 now features an anticipatory gearshift strategy for “Sport” and “Comfort” mode in combination with the Steptronic transmission. By feeding navigation data to the transmission control unit this feature allows the new BMW X3 to deliver a sporty and direct transmission response in “Sport” mode or to enjoy a more comfort-focused shift programme with fewer gear shifts when in “Comfort” mode.
The new locally assembled BMW X3, which arrives with xLine equipment package as standard, takes on new design features such as a redesigned kidney grille and modified headlight design. Apart from that, the new three-dimensional kidney grille is surrounded by new frames and is flanked by the new round twin headlights with changed geometry.
Additionally, the BMW X3 xDrive20i is complemented with an exclusive 18” light-alloy Y-spoke wheels while the BMW X3 xDrive20d will drive on double-spoke wheels. Its undeniably robust presence is further emphasised by the matt aluminium inserts in the bumpers. As part of the new exterior designs, the side indicator is now integrated into the new exterior mirror housing. Lastly, the BMW X3 xDrive20d features a panoramic sunroof as standard feature.
Inside, in addition to its premium xLine-specific leather upholstery with decorative seams and embossed xLine word-mark, the new BMW X3 also comes with a sports leather steering wheel and trim panels with aluminium accent lines. Its contemporary interior ambience is then further distinguished by soft ambient lighting as well as chrome applications on the buttons of the new BMW X3’s ergonomic sports leather steering wheel and window lifts. Additionally, the new BMW X3 xDrive20d comes standard with a new acoustic package for enhanced noise insulation to reduce disturbance of loud noises from outside the vehicle.
The new locally assembled BMW X3 is available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Mineral Grey while the BMW X3 xDrive20i features exclusive colour schemes in Space Grey and Sparkling Brown.
