As consumers we tend to look for cheaper alternatives at times especially cars, instead of buying a brand new car from dealerships, there are several other options such as buying a 2nd hand car direct from an owner or from a used car dealer. There are also cars which are brought in as reconditioned and sold at more affordable prices.
In New York City (NYC), the city has banned that dealers are unable to sell cars which has an open recall on those vehicles. Whilst NYC claims that this is for the safety of their buyers, the folks running used car dealerships are unhappy with the decision.
It can give an overall negative impact for all cars in a range and cause some dealerships to lose a bit of business but I tend to see it as a plus for consumers.
Over here in Malaysia, cars normally have to go through the PUSPAKOM inspection first. If it were me, the whole check with the manufacturer on whether the recall portion has been fulfilled should also be checked at PUSPAKOM. Rather than finding faults with tinted glass, the overall check and procedure should focus primarily on safety.
