Polaris ‘Slingshot’ proves that three-wheels can be fun

slingshot1

Three wheels can equal to fun as proven by the Polaris Slingshot. Think of it like the KTM X-Bow with a wheel-less and you’ll get the picture how the Slingshot three-wheeler looks like. Look closely and it does resemble the love child between the Morgan Three-Wheeler and KTM X-Bow.

Powering the three-wheeler is a 2.4-liter GM Ecotec that sits at the front, producing 173bhp with 225Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is mated with the engine and has two set of wheels – the 18-inch wheels at the front, with a single but larger 20-inch wheel at the back. It weights only 790kgs so expect superbike acceleration on this one.

Unlike the superbike, this tri-cycle sits two people comfortably with three-point harnesses and has a compartment at the back of the seats to store helmets and maybe some light grocery. Drivers will have analogue instruments complemented with 4.3-inch central display screen, which incorporates a reversing camera, Bluetooth integration, USB audio input and six speakers.

Since this is technically a tri-cycle, a motorcycle license is required and a helmet is a must before riding, oops I mean driving it. The Slingshot is only available at the United States starting at USD$19,999 to USD$23,999.

So here you go if three wheels of fun is what you are looking at; well, at least they got the wheels configurated in a correct way, unlike the one in this example.
