Ducati Malaysia has introduced the champion of its current range, the 1199 Panigale Championship Edition, at the Welcome Centre of the Sepang International Circuit recently, in conjunction with Round 6 of the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) that was held in Malaysia over the weekend.
To spice up the event, Ducati Superbike team riders, Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano, were present to unveil this limited edition superbike which is only available in Malaysia.
The 1199 Panigale is a mould-breaker and complete reinvention of Ducati’s sporting motorcycle. This revolutionary Ducati design features a new ‘frameless’ monocoque chassis, high performance ‘Superquadro’ L-Twin engine and the very latest in electronic rider aids (the most impressive package ever offered on a production machine) which includes three fully-integrated riding modes (Ride-by-Wire), Ducati Traction Control, Engine Brake Control, Ducati Quick Shift, triple stage ABS and Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES).
With a reduced dry weight of just 166.5kg in comparison to its heavier Ducati Superbike predecessors, and combined with higher, wider handlebars and an adjusted riding position that affords greater control, the 1199 Panigale achieves outstanding power-to-weight ratios and maneuvers with ride-enhancing agility.
Combine all that and what you have is a professional racing level bike that makes a true trail-blazer on the streets. The 1199 Panigale is suitable for smooth and docile driving along Malaysia’s many highways and is also highly responsive on the track.
Setting the benchmark for future sport bikes, the 1199 Panigale was developed and designed to raise the performance bar to its highest through the use of innovative Ducati Corse-derived solutions, making World Championship level technology available to everyone.
For the 1199 Superquadro, Ducati and Ducati Corse engineers increased engine speed and enhanced breathability with the incredible bore and stroke of 112mm x 60.8mm (4.40×2.39in) resulting in an output of 195hp @ 10,750rpm and 132Nm @ 9,000rpm.
Ducati Malaysia takes this model to new heights with the release of a limited number of Championship Edition units tailor-made for the local market. The 1199 Panigale Championship Edition features special livery, stickers and a back seat cover that has been signed exclusively by the Ducati Superbike team riders. Other enhancements include the addition of a full Termignoni racing exhaust, Ducati Corse Smoke Windshield, Ducati Carbon Clutch Casing Cover and Ducati Performance Aluminium Mirror Blind.
The 1199 Panigale Championship Edition is being offered at RM160,888 and is limited to just 10 units.
