Toyota Motor Corp and Suzuki Motor Corp could be announcing a partnership between the two very soon, according to a report by NST.
The new partnership could allow Suzuki to tap into Toyota’s expertise, as the company has been trying hard to catch up with the industry’s pace. Management from both companies are expected to decide on the matter later today.
Fujio Ando, an adviser at Chibagin Asset Management noted that Suzuki and Toyota models don’t exactly overlap each other, save for compact models. On top of that, Suzuki currently licenses its hybrid technology from Toyota.
The question Ando-san posed was that how much is Toyota willing to open up to Suzuki, as Toyota currently owns Daihatsu. Suzuki and Daihatsu both produce compact and minivehicles in Japan and are seen as competitors.
