More than 1000 bikers throng BMW Motorrad Day in Putrajaya

BMW Motorrad Malaysia has recently organised its first ever BMW Motorrad Day 2014, the largest BMW Motorrad event to be held in the country at the Palace of Justice Putrajaya.

The sun was out shining bright and the air was filled with music as a total of 1,225 attendees made up of an eclectic mix of local riders, international riders who rode all the way from Singapore and Thailand as well as the public in general turned up to see what the day had to offer.

The event kick started with a cultural performance showcasing the diversity of Malaysia before Dr. Gerhard Pils, President and CEO, BMW Group Malaysia and Mr. Florian Renndorfer, BMW Motorrad Head of Region Asia, Pacific, Middle East, China and South Africa welcomed guests and participants.

Welcoming the crowd, Dr. Pils said, “The inaugural BMW Motorrad Day 2014 not only celebrates the BMW Motorrad community in Malaysia but also celebrates the 90th Anniversary of the BMW Group as a motorcycle manufacturer – the Pure Riding experience.”

Dr. Pils added that since 2003, BMW Motorrad has been growing steadily and that more and more Malaysians are beginning to enjoy the experience of the Ultimate Riding Machine.

The BMW Motorrad Day 2014 was a special event for BMW Motorrad Malaysia as five new BMW Motorcycles were also unveiled to the public for the first time – the BMW R nineT, BMW S 1000 R, BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, BMW K 1600 GTL Exclusive and the BMW R1200 RT. At the centre stage introducing the new motorcycles was Mr. Ulrich Ast, Product Manager from BMW Motorrad in Munich.

Later, the crowd was treated to a fashion show featuring the latest BMW Motorrad Accessories and Riding Gear now available at all BMW Motorrad dealerships throughout the country. As noon arrived, with the heat from the sun blazing and the tarmac was sizzling, the stunt performances started.

Taking on the heated tarmac first was Ivan Khong, performing stunts in the MINI Coupe Cooper S before the lime light was taken over by Mr. Jimmy Quetel or better known as ‘Big Jim’, the official stunt rider from BMW Motorrad France. The crowd was amazed and excited as the amazing stunts we professionally executed.

Closing BMW Motorrad Day 2014 was local rock band ‘SuperFriends’. The public joyously sang along to the up-beat performance by the group.
