Porsche has upgraded the Boxster and Cayman line-up by introducing a turbocharged variant for both models with the new GTS. The GTS version for both Boxster and Cayman will provide more power and performance, revised styling and improved ride and handling that will make the GTS models the top of the line variant for both the Boxster and Cayman.
To differentiate between the GTS and the S models, the GTS models have revised front and rear bumpers, blackened bi-xenon lights, exterior lettering and leather/Alcantara sport seats and 20-inch Carrera S alloy wheels shod with 235/35 tyres at the front and 265/35 tyres at the rear.
Despite both models being powered by the 3.4L flat six engine from the S variants, the additional modifications have allowed the engine to produce an additional 15bhp and 10 Nm of torque. That means the Cayman GTS produces 335bhp with 280 Nm of torque, while the Boxster GTS has 325bhp with 369 Nm of torque. Thanks to such enhancements, the Cayman GTS has a top speed of 285km/h while the Boxster GPS is a mere 3km/h slower than the Cayman GTS. Acceleration to 100km/h is 4.7 seconds in the Boxster GTS and 4.6 in the Cayman GTS, if the optional PDK gearbox is selected.
Other enhancements for the GTS models including the Sport Chrono package, which improves vehicle responses, and the Porsche Active Suspension Management system (PASM), which brings lowered suspension and electronically controlled adaptive dampers. Such upgrades will improve the dynamic levels of the GTS models that could keep them closer to the 911.
The Boxster GTS costs £52,879, while the Cayman GTS is priced at £55,397 , and it is slated for a launch in May. Look out for more on both these cars when it debuts at the Beijing Motor Show this April.
