Mercedes-Benz Japan Co., Ltd. (President: Kintaro Ueno; Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo) launches a new special limited edition of the new A 45 AMG 4MATIC, the high-performance version of the A-Class new-generation sports compact car. The “A 45 AMG 4MATIC PETRONAS Green Edition” features special exterior/interior designs available under the customization program from the AMG Performance Studio. Beginning today, a total of 30 orders can be placed for the new special edition at AMG Performance Centers located throughout the country. The new limited AMG A-Class will be delivered to customers starting in June 2014.
As much as PETRONAS is a local company here in Malaysia, it is sad that we here in Malaysia don’t get any special edition models (perhaps they might have another one in the works?).
The A 45 AMG 4MATIC, the basic model of the new special variant, is the first high-performance model in more than 45 years of AMG to be available in the compact class. The AMG 2.0-liter four-cylinder inline turbo engine with direct injection, which delivers a peak output of 360 hp, is combined with the AMG 4MATIC system featuring variable torque split to ensure sheer dynamism. Indeed, the basic AMG 4MATIC model embodies the AMG brand claim “Driving Performance” to perfection.
To place further emphasis on the mind-blowing presence of the basic model, the exterior design of the new “PETRONAS Green Edition” features dedicated aerodynamic parts such as front discs and a rear spoiler, as well as 19-inch AMG light alloy wheels in multi-spoke design. Under the special design program from the AMG Performance Studio, the front-end areas, exterior mirrors, rear spoiler, headlamp units, wheel hub caps, and other details are painted in PETRONAS green, the special shade normally reserved for the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS FORMULA ONE® car. Boldly designed decals embellish the front bumper and side skirts. By contrast, the high-gloss black shade employed for the front spoiler lip, side skirts, exterior mirrors, and rear diffuser adds a touch of tension to the overall design.
Like the exterior, the interior also benefits from the special program prepared by the AMG Performance Studio. The steering wheel, dashboard, instrument panel, and climate control air vents are painted in PETRONAS green. At the same time, stitching in PETRONAS green is provided on the steering wheel, door panels, arm rest, and floor mats. This special edition is the first A 45 AMG 4MATIC variant to employ carbon fiber material for interior trim. Special features like the AMG E-SELECT lever with an embossed AMG Affalterbach emblem and door lock pins with AMG lettering help create an exclusive ambience characterized by high standards of workmanship.
Owners of the new A 45 AMG 4MATIC PETRONAS Green Edition enjoy the benefits of Mercedes Care, the comprehensive warranty system which provides 24-hour touring support as well as a general warranty (free repairs of failures) and free maintenance for three years from the time of purchase with unlimited mileage. Under the additional “Warranty PLUS” program, the period of the general warranty and 24- hour touring support available in the Mercedes Care program can be extended by two years for a fee.
