In the middle of last year, BMW and Toyota confirmed that they would be expanding their existing collaborations to jointly develop a new sports car. Fast forward to this year and a new report says that the sports car in question could be the replacements for the BMW Z4, 6-Series as well as the Toyota GT 86. According to Car Magazine, both companies are developing a flexible platform that allows for use in everything from a 2-seat roadster, right up to a larger sports car.
Details have been scarce at this point in time, but the model is rumoured to have a front mounted engine, pushed as far back as possible with carbon fibre composite technology. There are rumours that the development team is also assessing the cost/benefits of a hybrid element on the drivetrain too. All we know is that when the car is finally released, it will be something to look forward to!
