Meet the world’s fastest diesel-powered sports car – Trident Iceni. This two-seater coupe is a product of a small British sport car maker, Trident Sports Car Ltd.
The Iceni runs on regular diesel, kerosene, paraffin or biodiesel that propels the modified Duramax 6.6-litre V8 turbodiesel engine from General Motors, mated with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This 400bhp car with a mind-boggling 1287Nm of torque is capable of running 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds with the top speed of 304km/h. Needless to say, this is supercar performance territory, which is impressive from an oil burner! Did we mention the Iceni returns an impressive fuel consumption of 24.7km/l?
For those who crave for more power, there’s a performance upgrade package that boosts the engine capacity to 930bhp and 1423Nm of torque! Apart from that, a sporty suspension, paddle shifters and stronger clutch and brakes are among the items included inside this package as well.
There are three versions of the Trident Iceni. The Iceni Convertible, the Iceni Magna (picture above) and the Iceni Venturer which will be a sporty wagon. All three models have a starting price of 96,000 pounds but you don’t get many creature comforts for that price. For example, adjustable power seats and a navigation system are optional.
