If you haven’t heard already, United States President Barack Obama will be coming to Malaysia for an official three day visit from Saturday until Monday.
Hence, ladies and gentlemen, be prepared for a total (and we quote) “security lockdown” on certain roads in Kuala Lumpur. Currently, there’s no detailed information on the President’s movements in Malaysia, so we don’t know which areas will be closed. However, do expect road closures in major parts of the city with a “no-fly zone” to be enforced to protect the POTUS ahead of his arrival on-board Air Force One at the RMAF Subang base this Saturday afternoon.
The US Secret Service has been in the country over the past month, “securing” the president’s routes, hotel and places he will step foot in. In fact, US military cargo planes have begun delivering logistical supplies for Obama’s visit, including support vehicles and trucks loaded with sheets of bullet-proof glass, to cover windows of the hotel Obama will stay in, reports The Star.
This will be Obama’s first trip to Malaysia as well as the first US President to visit Malaysia in 48 years since Lyndon B. Johnson came to our country back in 1966. Hence if you’ve ever wondered why you saw a ‘Ladang and Kampung LBJ’ in Negeri Sembilan whilst driving along, now you know, it was named in honour of his visit.
During his visit, the 44th president will be chauffeured in his Cadillac One, called The Beast. Check out the video below for a more comprehensive details of the presidential state car.
