Chinese car manufacturer, Chery, has debuted the stunning ‘Concept Alpha’ concept coupe in the Beijing Motor Show. The slick and sharp looking Concept Alpha has shown the Chinese’s coming of age when it comes to designing desirable cars. After all, Chery is a partner for the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) group, which means Chery’s future cars could be as equally gorgeous as the Evoque and the F-Type.
The Concept Alpha previews the firm’s upcoming Arrizo 5 saloon car that is set to be launched in China later this year. According to reports, there will be two engine options available – a 1.6 liter four-cylinder developing 126bhp and 155Nm, and a new 1.2 turbocharged four-cylinder with 130bhp and 212Nm. Transmission options include either a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
The Arrizo 5 will start around 80,000yuan which is close to RM42,000 after conversion. If the car is bought to the Malaysian market, and even with taxes included, this slick looking car should give the Japanese and Korean B-segment cars a run for their money. Perhaps this car will finally change the perception that China are incapable of making high-quality, desirable cars.
