The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will start to implement the use of automatic transmission vehicles for driving test in June 2014, reports Bernama. Its deputy director-general, Datuk Yusoff Ayob said that the delay was due to technical problems involving the printing of the driving education curriculum.
“The printing of the book could not be completed on schedule,” explained Datuk Yusoff. Yusoff said the book, to be printed 600,000 copies annually, contains two syllabus, one for manual vehicle users and the other for automatic vehicle users.
“The book is expected to be distributed to driving schools in May before driving test for automatic vehicle users can be fully implemented in June.” With the implementation of this, all those who take their tests for a driving license with an automatic car, are henceforth only allowed to drive cars with automatic transmissions on the road legally.
He also mentioned that all instructors of driving schools were undergoing a course on giving driving lessons to users of automatic vehicles. Previously, JPJ had planned to implement the use of automatic vehicles for driving tests on 1st of April 2014.
