BMW has officially unveiled the Vision Future Luxury Concept at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, giving us a glimpse of their future design theme, and also the future for the brand’s next generation 7-Series Luxury sedan.
This Vision Future Luxury Concept features lightweight materials for the interior including carbon fibre, wood and leather. As a result, the concept reduces the total weight of the car substantially.
Inside, the driver is surrounded by a wraparound instrument cluster that consists of three intermeshing displays that use three-dimensional technology. The left display shows vehicle-related information, while the centre display shows a programmable speedometer, rev counter and context-adaptive supplementary data that appears as needed. Lastly, the right display shows infotainment information.
Rear seat passengers aren’t left out as they have access to two rear displays and a removable Touch Command Tablet. The displays and tablet provide access to everything from trip-related information like speed and journey time to information relating to the Luxury Concierge Services. They can also access online entertainment including video, music and gaming services. All content and functions can be controlled from the rear seats using the detachable Rear Seat Touch Command Tablet in the centre console.
There are plenty of new generation technology features such as a new head up display that projects information directly in the driver’s line of sight onto the road, Laser light headlamps which is a concentrated, parallel light beam that is up to 10 times more intense than that of an LED system, and an organic LED (OLED) tail lamps that consists of wafer-thin organic semiconductor layers positioned between two electrodes.
