When Apple announced CarPlay recently, it seemed to be only available for car manufacturers. That meant that consumers would either have to get their cars from a set of manufacturers who decided to go with CarPlay technology or forcing them to tick the checkbox which gives them that additional option.
Now it is rumoured that aftermarket solutions have reached a deal with Apple but that is still in the “hush hush” phase. Initial news did say that if a deal like that would be brokered, the first aftermarket solution we would probably see is some time in 2015. But lately, there has been news in the vines that Alpine may start shipping their units with CarPlay enabled.
If that were to come true, I am sure I will definitely be considering a unit for myself.
