A new Italian automaker, Giamaro Automobili, has made its debut with the unveiling of its first model—a hypercar named Katla. Founded in 2021 by a father-and-son duo, Giacomo and Pierfrancesco Commendatore, Giamaro enters the automotive world with a compelling backstory. Giacomo, the father, built his fortune in the 1980s and ’90s through mattress sales via telemarketing, and later became one of the early investors in Pagani. However, he eventually parted ways with the company due to creative differences.

So, what makes the new Katla special? For starters, it features an in-house developed quad-turbocharged 7.0-liter V12 engine that delivers a staggering 2,157 horsepower and 2,008 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, there is another variant of the hypercar that delivers 1,647hp and 1,556Nm of torque.
The engine is built in a 120-degree hot-V configuration, a layout that helps reduce turbo lag, enhances throttle response, and allows for a more compact design. While the development was handled internally, Italtecnica—the same engineering firm behind the Kimera EVO37’s powertrain—has been entrusted with its production.
The power is handled by a seven-speed automated manual gearbox and the car is a rear-wheel drive. With this much power, the braking system needs to be as powerful to stop the car. Thus the automaker has installed a robust system featuring 10-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers at the rear, paired with 16.5-inch (420 mm) discs at all four corners.
As for the design, the Katla looks like it took inspiration from a Ferrari and a Lamborghini starting with the ventilated hood and a floating LED daytime running lights. Also, it is reported that the car features the gullwing doors with a C-shaped Led lights at the rear that comes along with a diffuser.
Aerodynamics are aided by an active rear wing, which not only boosts downforce but also functions as an air brake under heavy deceleration. Futhermore, the Giamaro Katla rides on a 20 and 21-inch wheels, wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires for maximum grip. In terms of dimensions, the Katla measures 188.6 inches (4,791 mm) in length and rides on a 108.3-inch (2,750 mm) wheelbase.

On the interior front, the automaker has yet to reveal about it yet, but it is reported to feature an aviation inspired design with aluminium, carbon fibre and “refined textile weaves.” They’re joined by a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system that is angled towards the driver.
As for the pricing however, the Giamaro Katla is priced at EUR2.47 million (Approx. RM11.8 million).
