The all-new BMW R 12 nineT has officially landed in Malaysia, and it’s a retro-inspired roadster that blends timeless aesthetics with cutting-edge tech. Designed for the rider who values classic design and customisation with the backbone of modern performance, the R 12 nineT is BMW Motorrad’s tribute to its heritage—reimagined for today.
At the heart of this beautifully built machine is a 1,170cc boxer engine—BMW’s iconic flat-twin—delivering 109 hp and 115 Nm of torque. This air/oil-cooled unit is paired with a smooth-shifting 6-speed gearbox and a hydraulically actuated dry clutch. Acceleration is brisk, hitting 0–100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 200 km/h.

What sets the R 12 nineT apart isn’t just its performance—it’s the way it looks and feels. A newly engineered steel spaceframe forms the bike’s foundation, now lighter and cleaner in design. The rear tubular frame bolts on seamlessly, giving the bike a raw, minimalist aesthetic perfect for customisation.
The aluminium fuel tank, brushed and clear-coated, flows into a sleek seat and tail-hump, creating a purposeful, rising silhouette. Upside-down front forks, radial calipers, and dual front discs not only enhance handling and stopping power but also keep the visual language aggressive yet refined. The classic round analogue dials and subtle lighting details, including LED headlights and adaptive Headlight Pro, complete the premium neo-retro look.
BMW didn’t skimp on ergonomics either. The rider triangle is tighter, with a closer reach to the bars and better knee grip, enhancing comfort and control. There’s also a USB-C port and 12V socket as standard, ticking the box for practical daily use.
Safety features abound. Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) maintains composure in tricky conditions, and BMW Motorrad ABS Pro ensures braking confidence mid-corner. You also get Riding Modes (Rain, Road, and Dynamic) for adaptable power delivery depending on the terrain or mood.

Tech-savvy riders will appreciate the Keyless Ride system and Connected Ride Control interface. For those longer journeys, the Comfort Package brings Cruise Control, Hill Start Control, and Heated Grips—all essentials for effortless touring.
The R 12 nineT comes exclusively in Black Storm Metallic, exuding understated style with a strong presence. And with its modular design, it’s a blank canvas for riders looking to personalise their bike.

At RM 124,500 (on the road, without insurance), the BMW R 12 nineT is more than just a motorcycle—it’s an emotional statement wrapped in mechanical precision. Perfect for purists who want retro styling, real performance, and modern comforts in one beautiful package.
