Understanding road safety is essential for all drivers. With traffic accidents becoming a regular headline, educating people—especially young drivers—on road safety and proper driving etiquette has never been more important.
Recognising this, Porsche Malaysia and the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) have launched a campaign called “Students Today, Drivers Tomorrow” to educate young children on road safety and responsible driving behaviour. According to Porsche Malaysia, the campaign has so far reached over 1,600 participants aged between 7 and 17.

Road safety remains a major concern in Malaysia, where poor driving practices have contributed to a rise in road accidents, with over 530,000 incidents recorded as of October 2024. These accidents not only affect individuals but also have a significant impact on communities.
Through this campaign, Porsche Malaysia and MAM aim to equip students with the knowledge and awareness needed to improve road safety in Malaysia by integrating it through education and into schools from an early age.
To achieve this, Porsche Malaysia and MAM will embark on a nationwide roadshow, stopping at selected schools to engage students in interactive learning activities. The roadshow will feature:
- Knowledge-testing quizzes
- Road safety discussions led by motorsports instructors
- Driving simulator sessions, where students can experience what it feels like to be behind the wheel and apply the lessons learned

By using driving simulators, students will gain practical insights into responsible driving, reinforcing the importance of road safety and preparing them to be safer drivers in the future. Christopher Hunter, CEO of Auto Performance, emphasised the importance of educating young students about the matter, as they will be the future road users in Malaysia.
“More importantly, by bringing this knowledge home, they can influence their families to adopt safer driving habits, fostering a more responsible driving culture and contributing to safer roads across Malaysia,” he stated.

This initiative has the potential to cultivate a new generation that values road safety, ultimately helping to reduce the number of accidents caused by reckless driving.
