The 2025 Volvo EX90 is finally rolling into Malaysia, making its grand debut on 4 April 2025! Volvo Malaysia just dropped the news on social media, confirming that this high-tech electric SUV will arrive alongside its plug-in hybrid sibling, the XC90 Recharge. While they’re keeping the price under wraps for now, anticipation is already sky-high.
EX90: Electrifying Power and Performance
This isn’t just another EV—it’s Volvo’s smartest, safest, and most powerful electric SUV yet. Available in Twin-Motor and Twin-Motor Performance variants, it offers seating for five, six, or seven passengers, depending on the region.

The Twin-Motor version delivers 402hp and 770Nm of torque, launching from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the Twin-Motor Performance cranks it up to 509hp and 910Nm, cutting the sprint to 4.9 seconds. And like all Volvos, the top speed is capped at 180km/h—because safety comes first, even when you’re having fun.
Go the Distance With an Impressive Range with EX90
At the heart of the EX90 is a massive 111kWh battery, packing up to 600km of range (WLTP) on a full charge. It supports 11kW AC charging, which takes 10 hours for a full charge, and 250kW DC fast charging, which zaps it from 10-80% in just 30 minutes—perfect for a quick pit stop before hitting the road again.

Size-wise, the EX90 outgrows the XC90, stretching 5,037mm long and 1,964mm wide, with a 2,985mm wheelbase. Storage is generous, with 310 litres of boot space with all seats up, expanding to 655 litres with the third row folded, and a cavernous 1,915 litres when both rear rows are down. There’s also an 80-litre frunk for extra storage. The third-row seats fold at the push of a button, while the second row is manually adjustable.
Bold Scandinavian Design With a High-Tech Edge
Volvo has kept things slick and modern, with the EX90 resembling an oversized, ultra-premium EX30. It sports Thor’s hammer DRLs and high-definition pixel headlights with 1.3 million pixels, dynamically adjusting to the road ahead for razor-sharp visibility.

Inside, the cabin is pure Scandinavian sophistication, loaded with next-gen tech. The 14.5-inch tablet-style infotainment display with Google built-in, a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 13.2-inch head-up display make the cockpit a digital powerhouse. Music lovers will appreciate the 25-speaker, 1610W Bowers & Wilkins sound system, complete with a subwoofer and even speakers in the headrests for an immersive audio experience.

Safety First With Cutting-Edge Tech
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Volvo without industry-leading safety. The EX90 comes with a cutting-edge LIDAR sensor, mounted on the roof, working with cameras and radars to detect objects up to 250 metres ahead—even in pitch darkness.
With its futuristic tech, thrilling performance, and Volvo’s legendary safety, the EX90 is ready to shake up the EV scene in Malaysia. Stay tuned for the official price reveal as we get closer to launch day!
