PCCA Roars Into Action For The 2025 Season

Motorsport fans, get ready for a weekend of high-octane action as the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) kicks off its thrilling 2025 season alongside the prestigious Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix!

Since its inception in 2003, the PCCA has cemented itself as Asia’s premier international one-make racing series, attracting a fierce blend of seasoned professionals and ambitious privateers. It serves as both a proving ground for young talent and a showcase for world-class GT racing.

This year, 24 determined drivers will take to the grid across four fiercely competitive classes, all vying for supremacy in this adrenaline-fueled championship.

Shanghai Showdown: A Season Begins

The action-packed 2025 calendar starts with a home event at the Shanghai International Circuit. Excitement has been building since the Official Test Days earlier this month, where 2022 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup champion Dylan Pereira set the fastest lap of the weekend, laying down an early marker for the season ahead.

This year’s championship features four distinct classes: Pro, Pro-Am, Masters, and Dealer Trophy. The Pro class will see Pereira and Li Zhicong (610 Racing) battle it out against seven rising stars from the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Talent Pool presented by Michelin. Among them is home favourite Dylan Yip, who returns for his second campaign with Phantom Global Racing.

Defending champions Bao Jinlong (Phantom Global Racing) and Eric Kwong (Bergwerk Motorsport) are back to defend their Pro-Am and Am titles, while the Masters category makes its debut for drivers over 50 at a sold-out Shanghai International Circuit.

Meanwhile, the Dealer Trophy features six ambitious China-based dealer teams eager to prove their mettle. Heavyweights like TORO Racing, Team Shanghai Yonda BWT, Team Betterlife, Team Jebsen, and Porsche Own Retail 69 Team will go head-to-head against fierce competition from Sime Motors Racing and Porsche Team New Zealand.

A Home Race with Special Celebrations

Ten talented drivers from Mainland China will be looking to make an impact in their home race. Team Jebsen, the reigning Dealer Trophy champions, is celebrating 70 years of Porsche partnership with Jebsen Motors by unveiling a striking anniversary livery on Rodrigo Dias Almeida’s #55 car.

Adding to the spectacle, the championship will host ‘A Night with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific’ on Friday evening. This special event will honour the stars of the 2024 season with a grand awards ceremony aboard a luxury cruise along the iconic Huangpu River in downtown Shanghai.

Ghiretti’s Global Momentum

Last year’s PCCA champion, Alessandro Ghiretti, has already taken his talent global, competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia last weekend as part of the Australian Grand Prix support bill. The Frenchman showcased his prowess by finishing in the points in the first two races before storming to victory in the final round.

Weekend Schedule: Lights Out on a New Season

The season opener in Shanghai will see the drivers take to the track for practice on Friday. The battle intensifies on Saturday with qualifying at 9.10am local time, before Race 1 roars to life at 4.55pm. The action continues on Sunday, with Race 2 igniting at 12.00pm.
