BYD Atto 3 Ultra: Same Car, Big Savings

The BYD Atto 3 Ultra has officially landed in Malaysia, and while the name might sound new, the car itself hasn’t changed much. But here’s the real headline—BYD has slashed the price in a big way, making this EV an even more tempting option.

Now priced at RM123,800, that’s a massive RM44,000 drop from what it cost when it first hit Malaysian roads in 2023. With the Proton e.Mas 7 stirring up the local EV scene, it’s clear BYD wants to stay ahead of the game.

To sweeten the deal, they’re throwing in a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, plus an eight-year/150,000 km drive unit warranty (160,000 km for the battery).

Moreover, if you’re one of the first 1,000 buyers, you’ll get a RM 5,000 rebate, bringing the price down to just RM 118,800. As if that’s not enough, you’ll also score an eight-year free service package worth RM 4,888, racking up total savings of RM 9,888. BYD is also bundling in a free AC wallbox charger (RM 3,699), a vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter (RM 988), and a Type 2 charging cable (RM 1,796)—because who doesn’t love freebies?

Under the hood, the Atto 3 Ultra keeps things familiar with a 204 PS and 310 Nm single front motor that sprints from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. It’s powered by a 64.48 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a WLTP-rated range of 420 km.

Charging with 88 kW DC fast charging getting you from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes. AC charging remains at 7 kW, meaning a full charge takes 9 hours and 42 minutes—perfect for an overnight top-up.

On the outside, there’s not much new to report, apart from a fresh set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, though, things have gone full stealth mode. Gone is the flashy blue-and-white colour scheme, replaced with a slick all-black interior. But here’s where it gets interesting—BYD has swapped the red piping for a bold lime green, a choice that’s definitely going to spark some opinions.

The quirky guitar string-inspired door pockets are now black too, blending in more seamlessly. The best part? Ventilated front seats finally make an appearance, fixing one of the biggest omissions from the previous model.

Feature-wise, everything else remains the same. You’re still getting adaptive LED headlights, roof rails, keyless entry with an NFC key card, push-button start, and single-zone automatic climate control.

The front seats remain power-adjustable—six-way for the driver, four-way for the passenger—wrapped in faux leather. Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, heated side mirrors, built-in navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Qi wireless charger, and a 360-degree camera system.

Safety is still a top priority, with seven airbags, including a front centre airbag, and stability control. The Atto 3 Ultra also comes packed with driver assistance features, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear collision warning, and a door opening warning.

With a major price drop, fresh interior tweaks, and some juicy incentives, the BYD Atto 3 Ultra is now an even stronger contender in Malaysia’s EV market. It may not have changed much under the skin, but with savings like these, who’s complaining?
