Lexus is leading the luxury vehicle market with the standard fitment of potentially life-saving visibility equipment.
Updates to its CT 200h hybrid luxury hatch will specify it with reversing camera* as standard fitment, bringing it in line with the rest of the Lexus range.
Lexus is the first luxury marque to offer the technology as standard across the full complement of hatch, sedan, convertible, SUV and 4WD models.
Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley said that standard fitment of reversing cameras is a part of its commitment to providing the best safety technology for its customers.
“Lexus’ commitment to visibility and relating to safety is well documented, with Lexus IS, GS, RX and LX taking five-star ratings in NRMA reversing visibility studies,” Mr Hanley said.
“Realising the potential visibility shortcomings of larger vehicles, Lexus was the first Australian marque to offer reversing cameras as standard on an SUV, with its RX 330 in 2003.
“Additionally, Lexus is continually developing and offering new exterior vision technologies including the front, rear, left and right view cameras fitted as standard on LX 570, as well as the availability of wide-view side cameras on RX,” he said.
The revised CT 200h will be available from April 2013, bringing new styling, an improved body structure, revised suspension and new equipment specifications.
The revisions result in improved ride and handling, enhanced aerodynamics and improved NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) for a more comfortable driving experience and an even quieter cabin.
As Lexus in Australia has stepped up, I wonder if Lexus Malaysia will follow suit.
