Chery Malaysia has taken its support for Malaysian Paralympic athletes to the next level by celebrating their achievements from the Paris 2024 Games with some well-deserved new wheels.
At a special event held yesterday (21 January), Chery handed over the keys to a brand-new Omoda E5 EV SUV to gold medallist Cheah Liek Hou, while silver medallist Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli drove off in a sleek Omoda 5 B-SUV.
The spotlight wasn’t just on the cars, though. Bonnie Bunyau Gustin, the powerlifting champ who not only snagged a gold medal but also shattered a world record, has his eyes set on the Tiggo 8 Pro.
While Bonnie couldn’t make it to the event, he’s already lined up to get his new ride soon.
A Star-Studded Ceremony
The ceremony was more than just a car handover; it was a gathering of some of Malaysia’s finest, with the Paralympic athletes and their families, as well as officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the Paralympic Council of Malaysia, all in attendance. Even the KBS Minister, YB Hannah Yeoh, was there to show her support.
In her speech, YB Hannah Yeoh expressed her admiration, saying, “Our Paralympians exemplify the strength and resilience that inspire us all. At Chery, we are honoured to stand beside them in their journey, celebrating their victories and supporting their aspirations.”
Chery Malaysia’s vice president, Michael Chew, also shared his excitement, stating, “We are delighted to host this exclusive delivery of Chery vehicles to Liek Hou and Ziyad, those who had chosen the Omoda E5 and Omoda 5 as their preferred vehicles.”
Exclusive Discounts for All Olympians and Paralympians
Chery didn’t stop at just handing out cars. They’ve rolled out an exclusive discount programme for all Malaysian athletes who competed in the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. Here’s the deal:
- Gold medallists get a whopping 50% off the Tiggo 8 Pro, Omoda E5, and Omoda 5.
- Silver medalists and those who made it to the semifinals and finals enjoy a 30% discount.
- And for all the athletes who qualified for the games, Chery offers a 15% discount on the same range of vehicles.
It’s clear that Chery Malaysia is going all in to back our sports stars, helping them drive into the future with style.
