And then enters the talented render artist Chin Swee Hoe, aka @Theottle, who decided to ride the wave and give us a tantalising glimpse of what this new Saga might look like.

Rumours are swirling that this upcoming model is actually a third facelift (MC3) of the current-gen Saga. Not one to disappoint, Theottle has based his render on the third-gen model, injecting some fresh flair inspired by Proton’s latest designs.

For starters, the rendered Saga MC3 sports the same grille design seen on newer Proton models like the X70 facelift and the S70, rocking Proton’s signature Songket weave motif.

Borrowing cues from the S70, the render also showcases LED headlights with familiar DRL signatures, although they’re a bit more rectangular in shape. And let’s not overlook the front bumper, which bears a striking resemblance to the one on the S70.

What hasn’t changed much? The side profile and roof design stay true to the current Saga MC2 model. The render even includes the two-tone wheels from the Premium S variant. Eagle-eyed fans might spot the ADAS camera module on the front windscreen—a nod to the prototype’s recent spy shots.

While Theottle’s render gives us a lot to chew on visually, it leaves the mechanical details under wraps. Since this is just a facelift, big changes under the hood aren’t expected.

If rumours hold, the new Saga MC3 might stick with the reliable 1.3-litre 4-cylinder CamPro VVT engine, delivering 94 HP and 120 NM of torque—tried, tested, and true.

But wait, there’s more! Proton’s CEO, Dr. Li Chunrong, has hinted at a fully in-house-designed Saga in the works, promising an all-new AMA platform.

Plus, Proton’s collaboration with Geely ensures the current generation keeps evolving, with exciting features like the rumoured ADAS capabilities adding even more value for customers.

So, while we wait for the official reveal, Theottle’s render gives us plenty to dream about. The Saga’s future is looking bright, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
