The BYD Seal Premium (Extended Range) has just driven off with the prestigious title of Overall Car of The Year at the Malaysia Car of The Year Awards 2024 (MCOTY).
This win has propelled BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, straight to the top as the number one Battery Electric Vehicle (EV) brand in the country. Not too shabby, right?
But wait, there’s more! BYD Sime Motors didn’t just stop at one trophy – they bagged four awards in total at the glitzy event. Alongside the Overall Car of The Year, the BYD Seal Premium (Extended Range) also claimed victories in the Sedan Below RM200,000 and xEV (RM150,000 to RM300,000) categories.
And let’s not forget about the BYD SEAL (Performance AWD), which strutted away with the crown in the Sedan (RM200,000 to RM500,000) category.
For those who might not be in the know, the MCOTY awards are a big deal in the automotive world. They shine a spotlight on excellence in the industry, celebrating achievements, sustainability, and top-notch performance.
It’s not an easy win either—cars are put through their paces in meticulous evaluations, covering everything from design and safety to performance, energy efficiency, and value for money. It’s like the automotive Olympics, but cooler.
Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia, Sime Motors, couldn’t contain his excitement about the wins.
“As the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, we are honoured to receive this industry recognition with these four prestigious awards,” he said. “The BYD SEAL is a hallmark of superior style, performance, and technology. It sets new standards in the EV experience as more Malaysians embrace electric vehicles. These accolades reflect the trust in BYD’s offerings, supported by Sime Motors’ extensive network, exceptional service centres, and outstanding after-sales service across the nation.”
In other words, BYD is making waves, and Malaysia is along for the ride. It’s clear that the future is electric, and BYD Sime Motors is steering straight into it with style and power.
