Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has once again raised the bar in the Malaysian automotive industry, achieving record-breaking sales in 2024.
The company reported an impressive total of 358,102 vehicles sold, a significant leap from the 330,325 units in 2023—marking an 8.4% year-on-year increase.
Notably, this was achieved without introducing any new models in 2024. Even the 2024 Aruz, a renewed three-row crossover, was a refreshed version rather than an entirely new model.
Electric Innovation on the Horizon
While 2024 saw no new model launches, Perodua showcased its forward-thinking approach with previews of its upcoming all-electric hatchback.
The emo-1 EV Concept and the follow-up eMO-II Concept gave a tantalising glimpse into the future, with a production version anticipated by the final quarter of 2025.
This innovation underlines Perodua’s commitment to evolving alongside market demands.
Unprecedented Production Levels
The surge in sales was mirrored by an equally impressive rise in production numbers.
Perodua manufactured a record-breaking 368,100 vehicles in 2024, surpassing the previous high of 343,400 units in 2023, representing a 7.2% increase.
This extraordinary output highlights the company’s ability to scale operations efficiently while upholding stringent quality standards.
Quarterly and December Sales Performance
In the final quarter of 2024, Perodua reported 97,741 vehicle sales, a modest 0.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
December, however, proved particularly robust, with 32,202 vehicles sold—a 3.2% rise from December 2023.
After-Sales Expansion
Perodua’s dedication to customer satisfaction extended well beyond new car sales.
Its after-sales service recorded a remarkable 9.7% increase in vehicle intake, servicing 3.4 million units in 2024 compared to 3.1 million units in the previous year.
Looking to the Future
As Perodua gears up for 2025, President and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad expressed confidence in the company’s readiness to tackle new challenges and intensifying competition.
“We are prepared to maintain our leadership role in the industry, continuing to exceed customer expectations with innovative solutions,” he stated.
Datuk Seri Zainal also extended gratitude to all stakeholders—including shareholders, government bodies, vendors, dealers, financial partners, and customers—for their trust and support.
With plans to introduce new models and expand its footprint, including the anticipated launch of its version of the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid compact crossover SUV, Perodua is poised to continue its growth and innovation trajectory in 2025.
