“Sales in December were 36.8% higher month-on-month at 2,614 units, while for the year, total sales reached 23,647 units, making it the bestselling B-segment SUV for the fourth consecutive year,” Proton stated in a press release.

Additionally, the 2025 Proton X70 continued to charm buyers, securing sales of 8,892 units last year. Its December sales increased by 36.7%, with 1,456 units sold compared to 1,065 in November. This achievement was driven by year-end promotions that attracted many customers.

“This noteworthy performance comes after twelve months of intense competition from new original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and models targeting the same customer base. It also marked a significant transition into the electric vehicle (EV) space with the launch of our first model, the Proton e.MAS 7,” the national carmaker said in a statement.

Proton Edar CEO Roslan Abdullah stated, “Looking ahead to 2025, we will build on the continued popularity of the Proton Saga, while the impressive sales of our SUV models, such as the Proton X50 and Proton X70, highlight their appeal to customers seeking intelligent premium vehicles.”

Proton’s first electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 7, launched in mid-December, has already received over 2,500 bookings, reflecting growing interest in sustainable mobility.

Pro-Net, a subsidiary of Proton Holdings Bhd, highlighted the robust demand for EVs, suggesting the e.MAS 7 could potentially become Malaysia’s most popular EV model in 2025.

To celebrate this milestone, Proton is offering a special launch power pack to the first 3,000 customers, including benefits valued at up to RM8,000 to enhance the EV ownership experience.

“These are all positives to carry into the new year, and we look forward to growing the company in line with our core brand values of innovation, reliability, and internationalization,” Roslan added. Proton has made significant headway in the export business in 2024 despite challenges faced in some markets.

“We remain the volume leader for automotive exports from Malaysia, and with the commencement of CKD operations in Egypt as well as exporting new models to other markets, we are confident of accelerating export sales growth in the coming years,” he said.
