Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), the sole distributor of Ford in Malaysia, today revealed more details about the upcoming new Ford Ranger lineup. The month-end launch will consist of the Ranger Wildtrak, XL and XLT, and will introduce Malaysia’s first Ford Performance vehicle range, the Ranger Raptor. The Raptor is expected to take centre stage at its nationwide launch at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 in November.
The new Ford Ranger will feature a host of upgrades, including the first and only in-class new-generation 2.0L Bi-turbo diesel engine, coupled with an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission – available in both the Ranger Raptor and Wildtrak, while the 10-speed automatic transmission is available in the Ranger Raptor, Wildtrak and right down to the XLT+ variant.
These updates means that the new Ranger will have the smallest yet most powerful engine in the market for a pickup, with improved performance and fuel efficiency.
Staying true to its aspiration as a pickup for every lifestyle, the new Ranger comes fitted with more smart and innovative driver-assist technologies. These first and only in-class features include Semi-Automatic Parallel Parking (SAPP), ensuring hassle-free parking in narrow city streets, as well as an Autonomous Emergency Breaking (AEB) system, that detects pedestrians and vehicles before alerting the driver with an audible warning. If the driver fails to react, it can automatically apply the brakes and come to a full stop.
Loading and unloading work materials, weekend getaway luggage or even your mountain bike will be less of a chore with the first and only in-class Easy Lift Tailgate – incorporating a torsion bar to make lifting and lowering the tailgate effortless.
Other first and only in-class features in the new Ranger include Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control.
