Mitsubishi is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in Europe by revealing a special limited-edition Lancer Evolution X super saloon. Dubbed as the FQ-440 MR, and yes judging by the moniker, you guessed it right – this is a 440bhp super saloon that’s still powered by a small 2L engine!
The Lancer Evo X’s ECU has been beefed up, allowing the 2.0L turbocharged 4B11T engine to produce a whopping 440bhp with 559 Nm of torque. Performance modifications on the FQ-440 MR include a new exhaust system, air intakes, intercooler, motorsport-grade fuel injectors, sports brakes and a new tubular manifold. A 6-speed dual-clutch auto transmission is the only option available for the FQ-440 MR.
In the handling department, the ride has been improved with a lowered sports suspension, complemented with new 18-inch alloy wheels. Also in the FQ-440 MR’s equipment list are Xenon headlights and motorsport windscreen wipers, Recaro leather bucket seats, an eight-speaker audio system, an integrated seven-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth with music streaming and climate control. Only 40 units will be made for the UK market and all of them will be white.
No word on the performance figures yet, but we can pretty much assume this car will give a Mercedes A45 AMG a run for its money and will probably a ‘Jack the Giant Killer’ on any given race track.
