Tesla targets 5,000 cars per week within two months

In a recent earnings report, Tesla has been managing up to 2,000 cars per week production for their Model 3 and targets to push that number up to 5,000 cars per week. This was the initial target last year but Tesla has been having production issues and quality issues which have hampered production output.

Elon Musk did say that robots were one of the issues where over-reliance of a robot at the production line was actually slower when compared to humans at certain tasks. One of such robot was a “Flufferbot” which was supposed to put fluff at the batteries. It turned out having humans perform that task was a lot more efficient and faster.

If Tesla can meet its production quality and output targets, the company predicts that they can turn a profit within Q3 or Q4 this year. Once Tesla sorts out these areas, I hope that an international rollout for the Model 3 will definitely help bolster the company especially due to its lower price point and affordability.
