Range Rover SV Coupe debuts at the Geneva Motor Show

50 years ago, Land Rover decided to create a luxury arm of their famed SUV. I mean, why not? People want the practicality of a functional SUV whilst enjoy the niceties of luxury. Enter Range Rover and since then, the name Range Rover has been synonymous with both luxury and practicality. This time they unveiled another model, a limited-edition two-door Range Rover SV Coupe.

Thanks to that, I kind of have to remove the word practicality in my sentence above. So let’s stick with just luxury. Created by Land Rover Design and Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), SV Coupé is sort of like an oxymoron. Two doors and yet featuring all-terrain capabilities. What market are they targeting? I guess it must be small because they aren’t building more than 999 units. Did I mention that it will be hand-crafted?

Powering the humongous machine is a 5.0L V8 supercharged engine producing 565ps and 700Nm of metal twisting torque. This allows the Range Rover SV Coupe to sprint from 0-100 kmh in 5 seconds and achieves a top speed of 266 kmh. To handle all of that power, the suspension has been tuned to be a bit more driver-centric but still able to cope with a 0.9 metre wading depth. The car can tow up to 3.5 tonnes in total.

To match the sporty ride, you get to even spec it up with a set of 23″ rims.

Each SV Coupé will be hand-assembled to the client’s personal specification by the fastidious experts at the SVO Technical Centre in the UK – a first for Range Rover.

SV Coupé clients can choose from four front-to-rear contrast interior colourways, or a range of single-tone interior colours. Both are complemented by a choice of three elegant wood veneers. A first for Range Rover is Nautica, which carefully balances heritage craftsmanship with new technology, fusing walnut and sycamore.

Optional paint finishes include Liquesence, which brings a sensational liquid metal finish to Range Rover for the first time.

Additionally, Special Vehicle Operations’ bespoke personalisation team offers SV Coupé clients the opportunity to indulge their desire to create a unique vehicle to their exacting taste, granting access to 100 more paint colours, plus unique ‘match to sample’ hues, with a range of finishes; duo-tone front and rear leather colours with a bespoke quilt pattern; contrast stitching; headrest embroidery; doorhandle and treadplate engraving and semi-precious metal badging.

The Range Rover SV Coupe will be available for sale in Europe at the end of the year.
