The day after Christmas, Elon Musk took to Twitter to answer some questions from fans and customers as well as solicit feedback from them came with a rather surprising response. It isn’t the first time Musk has mooted the idea of a pickup truck. This time, if things do go well, Tesla might just start building it.
I promise that we will make a pickup truck right after Model Y. Have had the core design/engineering elements in my mind for almost 5 years. Am dying to build it.

In a tweet he posted, the aim is to work on a pickup truck right after the Model Y. The Model Y is meant to be a compact crossover vehicle which is based on the Model 3’s platform. Still, it is rather ambitious for Musk as Tesla just recently launched the electric semi which garnered a number of bookings from large companies and Tesla is still facing delays in getting their production numbers up for the also recently launched Model 3.
Interestingly Musk said that he had the design and core elements thought out 5 years ago and perhaps this time around with better technology and a slightly more matured manufacturing process, Tesla might just be ready to start diversifying their model ranges.
