With the recent launch of the new Volkswagen Polo GTI, a lot of punters who managed to score a test drive did yearn for more power. I don’t blame them especially in the era where hot hatches are producing close to 300ps of power, the Polo GTI sporting the 2.0 EA888 engine feels psychologically slow.
Enter the Volkswagen Polo GTI Clubsport, perhaps a model that might be in the making. Thanks to a recent discussion between Car Throttle and VW product line spokesperson Martin Hube, there is a possibility that and it will have 265hp.
“We are thinking about a 265hp (261bhp) version with the slip differential that we have in the Clubsport Golf [the VAQ unit], so there is something possible with the Polo,” said Martin Hube to Car Throttle.
Having all of these goodies such as a more powerful engine and slip differential will surely make the Polo GTI Clubsport something a little more fun as many have already pointed out that the equivalent Golf GTI Clubsport is a little bit more fun compared to its older brother, the Golf R.
